Use this page when you need to install Genie for the first time or update an existing installation. macOS and Windows use separate native plugin packages.

macOS

Download Genie for macOS

Current macOS build: Genie 2.9.4 (Build 72), release 2026.08.

Windows

Download Genie for Windows

Current Windows plugin: Genie for Windows 1.3.0 (file version 1.3.0.0), official signed release with Script Workspace AGENT and support for FileMaker Pro 19 through 26.

The Windows ZIP contains the signed 64-bit GenieWindows.fmx64 plugin. Windows packages are published separately from the macOS archive so neither platform can replace the other’s stable download.

This release is also available as the versioned Windows package.

Both links are intentionally stable so release notes, onboarding emails, and support replies do not need to change for every build.

macOS in-app update banner

Section titled “macOS in-app update banner”

If Genie shows an Update Available banner, choose Install Update to download and verify the release. When preparation finishes, choose Install & Restart to back up the active plug-in, install the verified update, and reopen FileMaker. Choose View Release when you prefer the manual download and installation flow, or Dismiss to hide the banner.

This verified dmg_zip updater belongs to the macOS package. Use the manual Windows package for Windows installations unless a Windows-specific updater is explicitly documented in a later release.

Install on macOS

  1. Download the macOS package.
  2. Quit FileMaker Pro.
  3. Unzip or open the package and install the Genie plugin.
  4. Reopen FileMaker Pro.
  5. Open Genie from Script Workspace or the macOS menu bar icon, then complete activation if prompted.

Install on Windows

  1. Download the Windows package.
  2. Quit FileMaker Pro.
  3. Extract the ZIP and place the signed .fmx64 plugin in the FileMaker Pro Extensions folder used by your Windows installation.
  4. Reopen FileMaker Pro and confirm that Genie is enabled in FileMaker’s plug-in preferences.
  5. Open Genie from FileMaker, then complete activation if prompted.
